Abstract

This text presents part of the ongoing master's research in the Postgraduate Program in Education at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte entitled "Reading with Art: art as power in literary mediation". It aims to present and reflect on the state of the art of educational research that relates Literature to its aesthetic aspect represented by the concept of Literature-art, based on Souza (2011) and the studies of Dewey (2010) and Eco (2003). The discussion seeks to debate the perception of literary art linked to the utilitarian and moralizing bias that has been associated with children's literature since its inception. Above all, it seeks to highlight literature as the art of the word and the aesthetic experience unleashed in the communication between text and reader.

Alessandra Cardos de Freitas, Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte: Natal, NATAL, BR

Graduated in Pedagogy (1995) from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), with a Master's Degree (2002) and Doctorate (2005) from the Postgraduate Program in Education (PPGEd/UFRN). Professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), Researcher linked to the Teaching and Language research group (UFRN). Researches in the area of Education with an interface in Literature and Psychology, investigating themes related to the formation of readers: children's literature, language, reading, argumentation, pedagogical mediation, storytelling and retelling in early childhood education.
